Terms of Use

The rules for using Study Lab. They are written to be read by parents and older students, not just lawyers. By signing in or using Study Lab, you agree to them.

About Study Lab

Study Lab is a learning app for school students in Classes 6 to 12: it shows NCERT textbooks and adds explanations, read-aloud, quizzes, flashcards and an AI study buddy. It is run by Pravastu, Mumbai, India ("we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between us and you, the person using Study Lab. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

Who can use it

  • Students, parents, guardians and tutors may use Study Lab.
  • If you are under 18, you may use Study Lab only with the permission of a parent or lawful guardian, who accepts these terms for you and is responsible for how you use it. Setting up a student's Study Lab asks for a parent or guardian and confirms their phone or email.
  • You need a Google account to sign in, and must meet Google's own age rules for that account.
  • Schools that want Study Lab for their students sign a separate agreement with us; for their students, that agreement applies alongside these terms.

Your account

  • Keep your Google account secure; anything done while you are signed in counts as done by you.
  • Give true information about the student (class, medium, school), so the right books and explanations are shown, and only add family contacts with those people's knowledge.
  • Tell us at cd-admin@pravastu.com if you think someone else is using your account.

Fair use

Use Study Lab to learn. Please do not:

  • type anything abusive, hateful, sexual or harmful to the study buddy, or try to make it produce such content;
  • use Study Lab to cheat in a test or exam you are not allowed help with;
  • copy the books, explanations or audio in bulk, scrape the site, or resell any part of it;
  • try to get around limits, break into accounts or systems, or disrupt the service for others;
  • pretend to be someone else, or add a child or family contact without the right to do so.

Study Lab limits how much each person can use some features in a day, so it stays free and fast for everyone. We may pause or close an account that breaks these rules.

AI answers

Explanations, quizzes, flashcards, the study buddy and progress summaries are written by an AI model. They are usually helpful but can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. The textbook, your teacher and your school board's instructions come first: check anything important against them. Study Lab is a study aid; it does not promise marks, results or admission, and it is not professional, medical or legal advice.

Books and content

  • The NCERT textbooks belong to NCERT. Study Lab shows them for personal study only and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NCERT, CBSE or any board.
  • Study Lab's own design, code, explanations, audio and quizzes belong to Pravastu. You may use them for your own study; please do not republish them.
  • What you type and create (questions, answers, notes, flashcards) stays yours. You let us store and process it as needed to run Study Lab for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • If you think something on Study Lab infringes your rights, write to us and we will look at it promptly.

Sharing

You can share a student's Study Lab with another grown-up's account, and share an activity link from the Parents page. Anyone with an activity link can see that student's activity record, so share links only with people you trust; you are responsible for who you share with. A link works for 90 days, and "Turn off this link" on the Parents page stops all of them at once.

The service

Study Lab is provided free of charge to families, "as is" and "as available". We keep improving it, so features may change, and we may pause it for maintenance or stop a feature. We will try to give notice of big changes in the app. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you the price and terms first; nothing will be charged without your clear agreement.

Responsibility

To the fullest extent Indian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost marks, opportunities or data you did not save), or for losses caused by AI answers being wrong, by things outside our reasonable control, or by your breaking these terms. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer under Indian law.

Ending

You can stop using Study Lab at any time and delete your account from the account menu. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it. What happens to your data then is described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes, law and contact

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect; continuing to use Study Lab afterwards means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Mumbai have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions or complaints: cd-admin@pravastu.com, Pravastu, Mumbai, India.
